Yes. Each credential is a W3C Verifiable Credential signed under the student's own DID (`did:key` / Ed25519). The credential hash is anchored to Cardano in a metadata-only transaction, and students can export self-contained bundles that verify offline — independent of Alexandria. If the platform disappears, the credentials remain provable forever.

Nothing changes for the students. Credentials are already signed under their DID and anchored on-chain, so they remain independently verifiable with or without Alexandria. Course content is content-addressed (BLAKE3) and distributed peer-to-peer, so any node that has pinned it can keep serving it. There is no vendor lock-in by design.

You map each course, module, and assessment to skills in a taxonomy with Bloom's proficiency levels (Remember through Create). The system then tracks how each student progresses across skills based on actual assessment evidence, giving you a real-time view of what your curriculum actually teaches.

LTI 1.3 tool integration, SCORM 1.2/2004 package import, and xAPI statement ingestion are on the roadmap. Once available, these will enable bulk content transfer from major LMS platforms.

Traditional student evaluations measure popularity and are well-documented to be biased. Alexandria derives instructor reputation from student outcomes — actual skill progression, evidence quality, and learning trajectory data. Reputation is scoped to specific skills, not a single global score.

Yes. Alexandria is MIT-licensed open-source software. The Community tier is self-hosted and completely free with no feature restrictions, no student caps, and no hidden costs. You run it on your own infrastructure.

Alexandria is designed with FERPA compliance in mind. The self-hosted deployment model keeps data in your jurisdiction, and credentials are signed under student-controlled DIDs — only a hash is anchored on-chain, so no PII is exposed publicly. Selective disclosure lets students share just the level, not the full evidence chain. Role-based access controls, audit logging, data retention policies, and consent management tooling are on the roadmap.
